Feedback and the beta hub

Tell us what is wrong, what you would like or what you want to know, from the app or the site, and see where each report stands.

Something wrong, an idea, or a question: send it from wherever you are. We read every report ourselves.

Send feedback

  • In the app: Brickworks › Send feedback…, in the menu under the mark at the top left.
  • On the site: Send feedback in the footer of every page, or in your account menu (your picture, top right), or open /feedback.

Choose what it is (something is wrong, an idea, or a question), say what happened or what you would like, and Send. Signed out, give your email address so we can answer you. Signed in, there is nothing more to give.

What goes with it

Only what you choose, and you see all of it before it goes.

In the app, the dialog has:

  • a picture of the window, taken just before the dialog opened over it. It is shown small, with Remove the picture; Add a picture of the window puts it back.
  • The app's version and your system: the version, your system, how it draws, and the window's size.
  • The model you have open, as a file, so we can open exactly what you were building.
  • The app's last log lines, which say what it was doing. Show the log lines shows you every one before you tick it.

Only the picture is ticked at first.

On the site, the dialog has:

  • Picture of this page: your browser asks to share this tab, then takes one picture of it.
  • Choose a picture…: any PNG or JPEG of your own. Either one is shown small, with Remove the picture.
  • This page and your browser: which page you were on, the window's size, and your browser.

Pictures are made smaller (at most 1600 pixels wide) and re-drawn, so nothing of the file goes but the picture.

Where it stands, and our answer

Signed in, every report you sent, from the app or the site, is on your settings page, with where it stands:

  • Received
  • Read
  • Planned
  • Fixed
  • Not planned

When we answer, the answer is emailed to you and also shown under your report. Signed out, the answer comes by email only.

Signed in, you can send ten reports an hour; signed out, a few. That is plenty for a person, and it stops anyone flooding us.

The beta hub

Beta testers have a page of their own, the beta hub, and a Beta hub link in the account menu and in the app's Brickworks menu. The hub shows:

  • what is new to try;
  • what we already know is wrong;
  • the early features your account has before everyone else;
  • how to tell us.

A tester's reports are marked as a tester's, here and on your settings page.

Some features reach testers before anyone else, in the app and on the site alike. Your account says which ones, and they turn on when you sign in. When a feature opens to everyone, it simply stays.

What is kept

Only the people who make Brickworks read reports. A report is kept with:

  • your account, when you sent it signed in;
  • your email address, when you sent it signed out.

It is deleted with your account. A report sent signed out, or one we have closed, is erased a year after it last changed. No IP address is kept. Privacy says exactly what is kept and why.

Something missing, or not as the app does it? Say so on GitHub, or see the questions people ask.
