Share your own work, and credit what you build on
Publish what you made. A model opened from someone else’s link with Open in Brickworks says so on its page, with a link back to theirs: that stays. If you built on a set’s instructions or a design from somewhere else, say so in About it.
The three licences
You choose one when you publish, and its page shows it.
CC BY 4.0, the one ticked unless you choose another: anyone may share it, change it and build on it, crediting you.
CC BY-SA 4.0: as CC BY, and what others make from it is shared the same way.
All rights reserved: others may look at it and build it for themselves, and ask you before sharing it.
Brickworks holds remixes to them when they are published: a version of a CC BY-SA model is CC BY-SA too, and a version of an all-rights-reserved model is not listed in the gallery without its builder’s say.
No copying passed off as yours
Do not publish somebody else’s design as your own: not a model from another site, not an official set under your name, not a remix with its credit taken off. A copy that is reported and checked comes out of the gallery for good, and the same file cannot be listed again at any link, by anybody. How to ask for that, and how to answer it, is on takedown requests.
No personal photos of children
Do not put a photo of a child, yours or anybody’s, in a model, its picture, its words or, when they come, a photo of a build. Show the build, not the builder. A picture with a child in it is taken out when it is seen or reported.
Keep personal information out
No addresses, phone numbers, schools or full names of anybody but yourself, in a name, a description, a tag or a profile. Your account’s address is never shown to anybody.
Say when the AI designer or Brickify made it
Designs made with the AI designer or with Brickify are labelled as such. Tag them ai-designed or brickify, and say so in About it. Hand-built and AI-made are both welcome here; passing one off as the other is not.
Nothing hateful, sexual, violent or spam
Nothing that attacks people for who they are, nothing sexual, nothing cruel, and nothing that is not a model: no adverts, no links to elsewhere dressed up as one. Names and words in the gallery are checked as they are typed, and what gets past that can be reported.
LEGO® and other marks
LEGO® is the LEGO Group’s trademark, and the LEGO Group does not sponsor or endorse Brickworks. Write it as an adjective, the way its Fair Play policy asks: LEGO® bricks, LEGO® sets, a LEGO® model. Never as a noun, a plural or a possessive, and never in a handle or a model’s name in a way that says the LEGO Group made or backs it. The same goes for anybody else’s name or mark.
What gets a model or an account taken out
A model comes out of the gallery when it breaks one of these: a copy passed off as somebody’s own, somebody’s personal information, a photo of a child, something hateful, sexual or violent, spam, or a mark misused. Once out it stays out, and the same file cannot be listed again. Its link is its sharer’s and goes on working, unless what is on it is against the law: then the site’s owner takes the link down too.
An account comes out of the gallery whole, every model, its profile and its public collections, for copying again after a model was taken out, for anything that puts a child at risk, for harassing anybody, or for coming back under another account to do what got one taken out. It can still build and keep its models. An account under 13 has nothing public in the first place; that is not a penalty.
Seeing something that should not be here
Every model, profile and collection has a Report button. A report goes to the site’s owner, by email within the hour, and to nobody else; you do not need an account to send one, and whoever you report is never told who you are.
