Brickworks
How it compares with Studio

A CAD for LEGO® models, in your browser

Every LDraw part at true size, joined where the real ones join and turned to any angle. See whether your model stands, turn its gears and print its booklet. Nothing to install, and free.

On a computer, a tablet or a phone, and on Windows, macOS and Linux.

The Brickworks builder with a castle of 2,438 parts open and its gatehouse selected: menus and a toolbar across the top; down the left the parts bin, the model tree of its sub-assemblies, and the gatehouse's properties, a sub-assembly of 406 parts; the view cube at top right; and in the middle a stone castle with towers, a moat and a courtyard, the gatehouse outlined in yellow.

How it works

From the first brick to the booklet

Your first model
  1. Find the part

Any of LDraw’s parts, by its BrickLink or Rebrickable name, an element number, or a photo of the real one.

  2. Put it where it goes

Studs, pins, axles and clips join where the real ones do, and nothing goes through anything. Turn a part by quarter turns, to the degree, or to any angle you type.

  3. Check it, then build it

See where it would tip and which joints would give, set out the steps, then print the booklet or take the parts list to BrickLink or Rebrickable.

Built for builds that have to work

How it compares
  • Tools, Check stability on an arm reaching far past a small base: the base's footprint drawn on the floor in red, the centre of mass marked beyond its edge with a line to it, and the joints carrying more than they can hold tinted a lighter red.
Will it stand?Where it tips, which joints carry more than they can hold, and what would fix each.
  • Tools, Simulate mechanism on an orrery of the Sun and eight planets: the panel lists each planet's period in Earth years beside the real one, every one within 0.3%, and the gear trains tinted by speed.
Gears at their real ratiosThey mesh as you put them down. Turn the crank and every train turns: an orrery’s planets within 0.3% of their real years.
  • A page of the building instructions for a small red car: steps 5 to 8, each with a box of the parts it adds above a drawing of the car so far, and a progress bar and the page number along the foot.
BookletsSet the order and the pages, then print it like the one in the box, or save it as a PDF.
  • Your Studio files

Open BrickLink Studio .io files, with the parts only Studio has, and LDraw and LEGO® Digital Designer ones.

  • Grab it like the real thing

A boom swings on its hinges, steering turns on its rack, an actuator stretches.

  • Build together, live

One model built by several people at once, by a link, each seeing the others’ parts go down.

  • Renders and 3D export

Renders up to 4K, 3D export at true size, and parts lists for BrickLink and Rebrickable.

  • Big models, in sections

Sub-assemblies, copies that change with their original, and sections, as big sets are built.

  • Phones and tablets too

The whole builder, laid out for a finger, and your models on every device you sign in on.

And minifigures, prints and stickers, hoses and chains, mosaics, parts made to any size, and what your own sets can build. All of it, in the docs

Bring your own assistant

Brickworks is made for building by hand. If you want help, turn on your own Claude: it can put a model together from a sentence, change the parts you select, or answer a question about it.

  • Off until you turn it on. Off, there is no AI anywhere in the window.
  • Held to the same checks. It builds with the same real parts, and the app decides whether each one fits and holds.
  • You stay in charge. Change anything it puts down; a whole design is one Undo.
  • Never limited. It runs on your own Claude plan or key, never billed by Brickworks.
